Have had this hat for a year now and love it! I work in the landscape industry and my fair complexion takes a beating in the sun all day. This is the best hat I've had by far and will be purchasing another "clean" one for days on the boat. Thank you for making a quality product to protect myself with!!
Have been using more than a year with great result; the seam to allow folding has never caused a folding issue while wearing or in windy conditions (a concern expressed by others).
One of the best aspects of the old version of the River Guide Hat was that the brim did not fold in the wind, which is the main reason I like this hat. On my paleontology and geology field trips, it is a nuisance when the brim bends or folds in the breeze or in the wind. There are very few had that have a nice wide brim like this hat does for sun protection and also a stiff enough brim to handle a stiff breeze. I was going to order another River Guide Hat until I realized the brim seam would ruin the best aspect of the hat. So I decided not to place an order. Five-star rating is for older version.
I prefer the older version that does not have the seams in the brim. I suppose that seam is to make it easier to fold but it causes it to fold down on me when I'm wearing it. I wish I could buy another one that doesn't have the seams.
I ordered this hat in a "large" on Amazon, based on the sizing chart on the Sunday Afternoons website. The hat (size large) that arrived was 2-3 inches smaller in circumference than what the sizing chart indicated. I contacted the Sunday Afternoons customer service person to find out if the sizing is wrong on all of the River Guide hats, and she was unapologetic and unhelpful (definitely did not subscribe to the theory that the customer is always right). I had to buy a different hat, which is a shame, because Sunday Afternoons has nice products -- other than sizing on this model.
