Charter Escape Hat

Being a golfer I was concerned if this hat would work for me. I measure 22 5/8 inches (57 1/2 cm). Allowing a little room for comfort - my normal hat size is 7 3/8 (59 cm). The medium size fits perfect and can be further adjusted with their elastic hook system in their hat sweat band. I golf a couple times a week and sometimes it gets very windy. I opted to change their hat chin strap system into a trooper style (back of the head tightening system) as seen in my picture. If I don’t need the extra tightness - I adjust the slide very loose and if I need the extra tightness - I tighten it as needed. I played the other day in 20 mph winds without any problems. Additionally, I purchased a 1 inch magnetic coat button - put some double sided tape on it - and inserted it into their sunglass slot to hold my ball marker as the brim is not stiff enough to support a slide-on magnetic ball marker. Now I have the perfect golf hat. FYI: I also own a Tilley LTM5 - and the quality is every bit as good - at half the price.

The Charter Escape is a great hat for camping, hiking, etc. The fit is good, even for my extra large head (~24”). The construction seems to be very high quality, which I’ve come to expect from Sunday Afternoons. I’ve used/abused several of their hats here in Alaska, and been incredibly happy every time. This hat is no exception. High quality and great in warm and cool weather. As usual, well done!

My family has 3 of these hats we love it so much. Looks great after being packed for travel. Works great in snow and light rain. I also found out it looks great on horseback- that was when my wife took it from me.

I've never liked wearing a cap / hat. For some reason, I feel like I just don't look good wearing one. After a long hike under a blazing sun, I decided to give a "summer" hat a try. I decided to order the Charter Escape Hat since it looked ruggedly fashionable and it didn't have those W-I-D-E floppy brims. Without thinking about the size, I ordered a MEDIUM. It fits, but I think I should have ordered a LARGE. I have worn the Charter Escape Hat on several long hikes under the blazing sun and I have been pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they are and how they protect my face from the sun. It does not make my head HOT by trapping body heat escaping upwards through the head. I still think I look funny wearing a hat / cap, but I've now gotten to the age where I no longer care what others think about how I look.

Great hat but I do not like the fact that the string comes out and has to be placed either in the front or the back. On my other Charter hats, the string does not come out and when not in use, is simply hidden in the internal pocket.

This is the most comfortable mountain hiking hat I’ve ever owned. I like the internal adjustment to get the size ‘just right’. I like the sun protection and that the brim is stiff and stays in shape.
I’m climbing high mountain passes in the Eastern Sierra and I sweat A LOT and I was concerned it would be too hot. These guys got the design right… the ventilation system works great! If I dump it in a high mountain lake it floats too.
Beats the heck out of the Outdoor Research Helios hat I wore before. Much higher quality.

Great hat! Adjustable for perfect fit. Great color. Every SAH I've owned (5) has fit like it was custom made. Charter hats, Havana hats, ball caps, they all fit great, look great and last long! The Arizona sun is brutal, this hat lives up to the test. You really can't go wrong with a Sunday Afternoon Hat. They are reasonably priced and ship fast. Don't forget your hat!!

This is a great hat for any who spend a lot of time in the sun. So much cooler than most ball cap style hats. Much better air flow and space for your head to breath.
It is an excellent choice for any fisherman who spends many hours out on the lake like I do. Provides great comfort and sun protection as well as shading your eyes so along with your polarized sunglasses one can see deep into the water.
Speaking of sunglasses you will find the built in sunglasses holder alone is worth the purchase price!

Great hat... Unfortunately only lasted a week. Ordered it for my wife before a cruise... While on an excursion, the hat, despite being chinched under her chin, blew off into the water and we couldn't recover it. Would definitely buy it again.

I had high hopes for this hat and what can I say boy did it deliver. I had been looking for a new hat to replace my larger outback hats for doing yard work and just running around town. I was a little concerned about the brim sizing, but it was actually perfect. The team really did a great job taking the cut into consideration to achieve that perfect style. If your looking for the outdoorsman style without the large 3" brim then this is the hat for you!

Really appreciate an amazing sun hat where the brim is 360-degrees but isn't umbrella sized. Also, it's bluesign material on top of Sunday Afternoons having a "giving back" program. Thanks for doing that.

I really like the option to be able to adjust the hat for the fit you want and need. Good quality and great gray color. Like the option of color choices.

The hat that was sent out to replace the defective hat I purchased was worse than the one I have. Very disappointed.

This is a well fitting hat with a nice stiff brim. It handles windy conditions very well with the chin strap. It is my new go-to golf hat!

I purchased this hat for golfing on sunny afternoons and it has not disappointed. In fact it’s exceeded my expectations. Would highly recommend. I have since purchased 2 more.

Nice hat but a bit small for me in this particular style. I do wear the same size in other Sunday Afternoons hats so maybe this one runs a bit small. Also- the company had my return for 3 weeks without crediting my account- no excuse for that.

bought this hat to play golf in, the top is very thick and not very breathable.
It might be good to wear when it's not hot and sunny, but that was not what i bought it for.
Can't wear it on the river either, its way too warm of a hat.
